Ek Jhoothi Love Story Web Series Review – The search for the ideal becomes insanely crazy at times.

Ek Jhoothi Love Story Zee5 (2020) opens with two adults who are on a quest to find their perfect life partners. The search for the ideal, the search for the perfect is tedious and at the same time highly unrealistic. But the generation fails to understand this, despite claiming to be more practical than earlier days. Indian marriages are born out of extremism. Either two complete strangers are almost compelled to get married, have sex and live with their children as a so-called perfect family. Or there are people who look for the perfect one and end up in selecting partners based on ticking checkbox options, much relatable to placing an order at the McD’ or the Subway.

Sohail and Salma are to adults who dream of the perfect soulmate for themselves, without giving slightest thought to the scenario where they would actually fit into someone’s search for picture perfect life partner. And they become so insanely crazy in this search marathon that they create fake profiles on an online platform to get their ideal counterparts. Things go caramel smooth until their setup lands up in a quagmire.

Ek Jhoothi Love Story is a story which is more of an eye opener than a source of entertainment. It conveys the message that the concept of ideal or perfect is hypothetical in itself and the search for it should never go beyond limits.

Script

The script of Ek Jhoothi Love Story web series keeps the viewers glued to the show. The script doesn’t have a lot of substance in it. It is not overdosed with information. But the script has a sense of binding, a touch of connectivity that never lets the viewer drift away from the main plot.

Acting

Bilal and Madiha form the heart and soul of the series. Their performance becomes not only the backbone, but also the life of the story. Beo Raana Zafar as the grandmother also does her part quite well.

Music

Mobeen Zahid and Haniya Aslam did quite a good job in designing the music as well as the background scores of Ek Jhoothi Love Story. Their melody actually helped this series become somewhat differently better to watch.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

Jamil Alvi did an excellent job as the DOP of Bebaakee. He utilised every frame and made it look exotic. Good cinematography is one of the reasons for which Ek Jhoothi Love Story can be a treat to the eyes for romantic drama lovers. Waqas Pasha did a great job as the editing team of Ek Jhoothi Love Story. Visuals were at their best.

Direction

Mehreen Jabbar minimised suspicion and maximised predictability. His directorial approach towards Ek Jhoothi Love Story was not minute enough. Characterisation was not made well and as a result a lot of areas remained sketchy. The brevity of the episode duration could have been utilised in a good way. However, with exotic cinematography, bewitching music and good acting, Ek Jhoothi Love Story manages to score well.
