Bonyo Premer Golpo Season 2 review: A thriller that won’t let you skip a single moment of the tale
Hoichoi thriller web series Bonyo Premer Golpo: Season 2 is a web series that reflects thrill and suspense much on the scary side. The tale runs on the track of and unpredictable journey. Sociologist Mrinalini aka Mini now stays in a mental asylum, located at a remote area from Kolkata. She happens to brutally kill the doctor of the asylum, Dr. Basu. The story opens with Dr. Basu struggling to save his life, with his feet chopped off with an axe. And then with the same axe, the last flicker of his life-lamp extinguishes. Recitation of a poem reflecting philosophy and solitude pours out from the heart of Mini after murdering Dr. Basu. Slowly it reflects that this reputed doctor besides practising infidelity towards his wife, also was a part of the woman trafficking racket by “supplying” the patients to people with money for a night. Nurse Swati assisted him along with Jahangir. After Dr. Basu’s demise, a young and handsome Dr. Kanishka takes over the charge of the mental asylum for one year. He suspects that something is wrong here and discovers that although Mini is yet to fully recover, she is in a much better condition now. Officer Binapani Banerjee investigates the murder of Dr. Basu and facts keep unfolding through the 5 episodes, keeping the audience glued completely for the entire time and then somewhat disappointing them with the arrival of the final episodes of this season on October 16, 2020.

After an equally interesting first season, Bonyo Premer Golpo is back with bang in Season 2. Although the beginning of the film is marked with similar presence of blood-stained corpses, there is much more to discover.
Script and Performance
The script of Bonyo Premer Golpo: Season 2 is not much filled with information. But the dialogues framed for each character suites them to the best. Script has been written in a very sharp and crisp way with apt use of words. Colloquially, the crispness of dialogue exchange just goes right with the situation.
Acting
While Tanusree Chakraborty rules the show as Mini, her work sometimes brought in the flavour of monotony. But going by her earlier works, after Chorabali film, Bonyo Premer Golpo: Season 2 web series can definitely be considered her best performance so far. Damini Basu as Inspector Binapani adopts an altogether different style of portraying a “heartless” police officer. A character who wants herself to be addressed as “Sir” and not “Madam”—what message did SGR tried to convey through this kind of intense characterisation? Well that is a major question. But in this blood pool of suspense and darkness, a cool, fresh zephyr of spring was brought about by Arjun Chakraborty as Dr. Kanishka. His performance is phenomenal—devoid of any exaggeration, this man just slips into the character with equal ease as his father Sabyasachi Chakraborty or his elder brother Gaurav Chakraborty. And the best part is, he does so while keeping his style of work intact and unique. Ena Saha as Rumki, the imaginary bosom crony of Mrinalini, performs very well in the short screen spaces as compared to her earlier work.
Music
With Subho Pramanik as the man behind music, suspense simply explodes like the liquid hot chocolate from the freshly baked choco lava cake in Bonyo Premer Golpo: Season 2 web series 2020. Music and background scores could have been no better.
Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing
Prosenjit Chowdhury—currently one of the best cinematographers working in Bengali web series—from Tansener Tanpura to Bonyo Premer Golpo: Season 2, the work of this man is absolutely impeccable. Nilanjan Mondal’s editing work is also no less than phenomenal.
Direction
Sani Ghose Ray (SGR) did an excellent job as the director of Bonyo Premer Golpo: Season 2. Amidst an excellent concept, idea and execution the flavour of a sequel somewhat lacks as per the first 5 episodes of the series are concerned. But otherwise, the overall work is magically thrilling.
