Bahut Hua Sammaan – Extremely funny comic satire with a solid message. तुम्हारे पास सवाल करने का अधिकार है।  बहुत हुआ सम्मान। सवाल करो। 

Bahaut Hua Samman is a Comedy Movie intended to be a social satire, tickle the thinking nerves and relieve the brewing angst against almost all ‘isms’ (Capitalism, Socialism, Marxism). It does this effortlessly through light-hearted connect with its audience. What stands out immensely, apart from superb performances by all concerned, is the unexpectedly topical yet crazily bizarre background music, screenplay portrayed through “textual” comical sound  effects, and some unmistakably rogue and rustic dialogues .

In a Varanasi Engineering College, Fundoo (Abhishek Chauhan) and Bony (Raghav Juyal) are two failure mechanical engineering graduates with a rather poor GPA. Baba Bakchod  (Sanjay Mishra) , who is perceived to be a campus lunatic hatches a plan to rob the on campus MCBC Bank and the two decide to execute the robbery for him. The two instead get caught and What gets revealed later is a deeper conspiracy that Baba intends to foil.

A Saadhu Baba and a politician are hand in glove to deliver drugged Food products to Indian consumers. They have plants in Gorakhpur where this drug is being manufactured and mixed in the products, before dispatch. IPS Officer Bobby Towari ( Nidhi Singh), of Permanent Roommates fame, is assigned to the case.  She is a dutiful officer and together with her husband is trying for a baby.

The comic book style audio effects add to the craziness and the fun of watching this underdog marvel!

Performances

With veteran actor like Sanjay Mishra in a central pivotal role, Bahut Hua Sammaan movie could have been expected to be a strong comedy, which it is. However, Mishra surprises his fans with a perfectly executed think-tank strategy with views of an anti-capitalist liberal socialist. He is guised to be a ‘lunatic’ but is infact is a genius. Take a bow Mishra Ji, you were simply understated but outstanding.

Actors like Ram Kapoor and Nidhi Singh get rather important roles and carry them out with finesse.

Dancer turned actor Raghav Juyal , along with young actor Abhishek Chauhan are unmistakably adorable and pull off the stupidity expected of their characters with immense realism. They justify youth wanderlust and waywardness, with fear for their uncertain future in India. Both display immense acting skills and if they get suitable roles, they will shine in their careers.

Screenplay & Dialogues

What this Film stands out for, is its eccentricity and craft. Deftly executed editing and storyline build-up is the highlight of this movie.  The comic book style audio effects add to the craziness and the fun of watching this underdog marvel!

Dialogues are rustic, mad frenzied license to make you laugh with its aptness , Hindi heartlandish, ingenious, abusive, sacriligeous, downright insults and yet so enjoyable! There are few movies that have come this close to dialogue writing perfection as Bahut Hua Sammaan Hotstar.

Treat to both an enlightened mind as well as a person purely seeking boozed out fun.

Story

A rather average story highlighted with its performances, dialogues, editing and screenplay.

Music

Rather old songs from SaRaGaMa library have been re used as is , throughout the film. Even in action sequences, as background music. Voices of Sharon Prabhakar, Bappi Lahiri when placed on comical scenarios in this laugh riot, become etched in memory and one revels in the marvel that is Bahut Hua Sammaan listeing to some funny edited background score.

Direction

Bahut Hua Sammaan is a movie which comes so close to perfection. It is a perfect under dog which definitely deserves a watch. A viewer will be surprised and wondering why such movies are not popular or trending or sent to international festivals, etc. When such strong messages are conveyed so damn subtly, they become spiritedly effective in their impact.

Kudos to the director Ashish R Shukla ( Of Undekhi , Prague fame) for creating yet another content piece that stands out in the crowd. Some clever craziness packed into a comic wonder to cherish, hopefully for years to come.
