X Zone movie review— Disaster at its best

X Zone movie online on Shemaroo is a movie that will seriously make you question how a horror film should actually be. When it comes to horror in Bollywood, the first name that comes to us is Vikram Bhatt. As a filmmaker, Vikram Bhatt has been definitely subjected to a lot of criticism. Yet he believes in telling his audience a story. The story might be impractical, the story might lack concrete ideas in it, but the story exists—and that is the foundation of the trending un-ignorable horror numbers presented by Vikram Bhatt to the Indian film industry.

The plot of X Zone doesn’t demand a plethora of words to cost its description. A group of friends decide to spend their vacation in a farmhouse. There’s some serious issue with Bollywood directors and their fantasy of farmhouses that take them to spirits. These spirits will always make some moves that will first make the visitors uncomfortable and suspicious, and then of course scare the hell out of them. X Zone has this exact storyline. The same old anonymous movements, play of shadows, suspicious sounds and finally the outbreak of the spirit with an outburst of violence. If there’s something that the viewers will like about the film, then they should watch ‘Horror Story’ by Ayush Raina, who made a much better attempt in 2013 with similar but a way better storyline.

X Zone is a project that either required a better storyline, or an impeccable execution so that there’s no scope for any question to the commonness of the plot. But unfortunately, it had none.

Script

The script of X Zone is quite eventful. But the issue lies in the interiors of the script writing. Dialogue framing in some way substantiates the characterisation in a good way. But at most of the places, the words become too cheesy and absolutely don’t go with the characters. Do people these days with such creative as well as educational backgrounds have such shallow conversations and mindsets? —this question continues to come into the picture.

Acting

Kapil Arya does a fairly good job. With limited scope for the display of his skills, he manages pretty well to at least try to cover up for the dreadful execution of the film. Hrishitaa Bhatt was also quite good. She picked up her character very well and her dialogue delivery also added to her good performance.

Music

With Sangeeta Pant and Shubham Sundaramas as the music directors of the X Zone release on Shemaroo, background scores were at their very best. Music was actually the only aspect which was at best for the film.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

Good cinematography is not about taking the best angles in great locations. It is also about making an ordinary location look special and beautiful, especially in a film like X Zone. In a world where gangster films and web series are shot so well, a much better performance was expected from Naren Gedia as the DOP of X Zone Movie online. But Shekhar did a fairly good job as the editor of the film.

Direction

Faisal Kapdi’s work as the director of X Zone movie is obviously questionable to a large extent. Does a good gripping horror story always demand to come with the package of cynical romance and erotic flavour? And that too when it did not have any grave role to play in the film? The time spent in baseless sequences could have actually utilised well enough for plot building as well as deeper characterisation. X Zone leaves to be one of the most significant sources of disappointment.
