Platform: Netflix | Release Date: February 14, 2021 | Content Type: Web Series |Family Viewing Advised : Yes | Language: English |Duration: 3 Eps, ~40 min each

The Big Day Netflix is a docuseries that is for the rich people, by the rich people. Now the question is, is being rich a sin in India? Well, not really though, but there is definitely an issue that would bother mankind when a show does nothing without boasting money behind marriage. Modernization has become a new trend where people say no to some social customs, which is absolutely acceptable. But the same people running behind the execution of a larger-than-life wedding plan—well, very much ironical and contradictory. The Big Day delineates a picture perfect happy and rich execution of a wedding of 6 couples, and all they do is dream and plan for that “Big Day”.

The Big Day Netflix Couples

While Aman Kapur and Divya Khandelwal executes an eco-friendly wedding in Bishangarh, they fail to highlight that savings is an equally important factor that is required to be considered, especially when the world is fighting such an economic crisis in times of a pandemic.

Tyrone Braganza and Daniel Bauer opted for a German Church wedding, making the first same sex wedding to be aired on Netflix show—a Big Day for Netflix indeed.

Nikhita Iyar and Mukund Chillakanti chose to honour their inherent tradition and selected Chennai for their wedding destination.

Addressed as the Power Couple of the series, Ami Pandya and Nithin Zacharias is fearless with Ami being upfront—another trend well-executed.

Saying no to Kanyadaan, Pallavi Bishnoi and Rajat Swarup managed to win hearts of the audience with their approach towards equality.

Inter-religion marriage—the most talked about marital issue in India has been most predictably highlighted by Aditya Wadhwani and Gayeti Singh.

The Big Day is a web series that could have taken a better shape with a more introspective plot. But poor conceptualization ruined its potential possibility.

Script

The script of The Big Day complements the plot quite well. In terms of dialects and diction, the script defines the characters with good work of detailing. With the plot being very shallow, the script did not have much to do.

Music

Music for The Big Day has been supervised well enough by Ankur Tewari. With the plot being highly insignificant, good music at least added some flavour to it.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

Pratik Deora, Debashis Dalai, Tuhin Mukherjee, Siddhi Patel, Kaushik Sinha, Chinmay Bokil, and Sheldon Ian Healy as the directors of photography of The Big Day did a great job as far as the cinematography of the docuseries is concerned. Geeta Singh did a good work as the editor of The Big Day.

Direction

The Big Day is directed to an absolutely narrow section of the society. Given the present situation of the nation, the series seems to be extremely out of context with no relatability factor for majority of the Indian mass. Ashish Sawhay, Aakriti Mehta, and Faraz Arif Ansari could have done a better job as the directors of The Big Day docuseries on Netflix.
