Shootout at Alair Web Series Review – A Police Drama elevated by natural performances.

Shootout at Alair 2020 is an eight episode series. A youngster named Akhtar and his friend Mohsin by fate become victim of some unfortunate incidents including Mecca Masjid blasts. These circumstances makes them believe these are nothing but attacks on religion.

They together start attacking the police force, especially those who were involved in the mecca masjid series blasts, in a vengeance mood.

They also attempt to assassin the CM of Gujarat, but fail. The difficulties the police team encounters while trying to nab them, how a police constable is killed in an eerie way giving a clue towards Akhtar forms the main bulk of story

Shoot out at alair is a sincere film about the police force, police force is captured as a vulnerable, human, kind, a never ending spirit to protect people, it’s a really different side to police, which is very well showcased.

A balance of professional and personal life which they achieve, their anger, how they overcome the obstacles in daily police life has been picturised well.

Sweet interactions with families, police cop romancing wife, are the heart of the series. Watching of a film by a newlywed couple, a police officer being taught on how to sip ea forms the lighter side of story giving a natural look to the movie.

The raw chemistry between a police couple is really warm, and the prakash raj and his wive’s conversation are lively and have a leisure tone in movie, his conversations with wife before nabon the flip side hbing the criminals are highlight of movie.

On the flip side movie fails to depict about the akhtar story in depth.the intensity of the character off the akhtar lacks energy and is very action less when compared to what it has to be for the character. Akhtar and nafisa love story is very meagre without much flesh, it it was more developed the story would look complete.

Direction

Anand Ranga makes a good film but sometimes the need for harmony in the movie looks forced, the movie is good in showing divisive climate throughout its narration.

There is a feel like documentary to few episodes, last episodes are very interesting and add to the entertainment of the series.

Performances

Srikanth has finally got a role where he can display the veteran part of his acting skills. He steals the show when he plays a human side of a serious cop. Prakash raj’s small but effective role is a cherry on top for the series. he has once again proved he is master of all and can deliver the performances in a jiffy without any hard efforts.

Akhtar has a lengthy role and ensures he does justice throughout be it his body language and all, but the dialogues delivery needs a improvement. Moin and gayatri gupta as a couple are really good on screen, their roles have been written to the “T”.

Nandini Rai’s role is short but makes sense.

Music

Music by mark k robin is good and matches the situation of the movie and never overpowers the narrative.

Cinematography

Cinematography is clear and visuals are natural and feel good through out.

Verdict

It’s a good watch for the season.
