Drishyam 2 story has lived upto the expectations set by its prequel. Sustained all the pressure and realised this intelligent masterpiece movie.
The family of Meena, Mohanlal and their two daughters are living a fearful life, because of their past.
A couple starts living as a neighbor to them, Meena comes close to them. Are they actually neighbors? Or someone is shadowing their lives? Have the deceased boy’s parents left the investigation? Have they overcome the grief of their son? Has the police department given up and lost to George Kutty? All these questions will be answered in the Drishyam 2.

George Kutty’s character is always a step ahead of the other people who are surrounding him and prove him as culprit.
After a gap of 6 years, the family is still haunted by its past. A small time cable tv operator outsmarts the Police in a case where the daughter kills a boy accidentally. The victim happens to be a big shot, adding more drama to the story.
The present film, Drishyam 2 begins, where in the gap of all these days, George Kutty has become wealthier and owns a theater. Elder daughter is still recovering from the past memories of trauma. While younger daughter is a slightly rebellious one, Rani his wife and entire family are living under a fearful future.
The entire community who once supported the cable operator, now with his new found prosperity, has lot of wagging tongues around him. He also has people disbelieving his actions of the past.
The music, especially background is loud, the songs, except one which is relevant in the situation is fine, but rest all do not go by the movie script.
Always and throughout the film, there is always family talk behind the family and a lot of unnecessary drama. Editing could have helped to remove this.
Right during the twist, is where we feel the jerk and come to senses of intelligently flowing movie?
The director has done good job in seamlessly blending the movie with the prequel film and bringing in some new elements which make the bulk of the movie.
Screenplay of film is very slow in the first part, later picks up, though we feel slowness, but it’s justified to pull the story together.
The movie is although not entirely predictable, convenient hints through many characters and situations created in the film, is the intelligent act put together by the actor.
The movie is definitely a standalone of Drishyam , but it is also a decent match to continue with the first part.
Verdict
Drishyam 2 is an intelligently made suspense thriller , can be enjoyed thoroughly and watched more than once. Especially so, if you like to see the beauty of connecting and unraveling of suspense.
