The first Pakistani original series Churails on Zee5 is a story primarily based in Karachi. Churails Zee5 story begins with the separate struggles of four women— women who wanted to make a change, but wanted to do so anonymously.

Sara has a perfect family with an affluent and loving husband, complemented with three children, two sons and a daughter. She kept family as her top priority and gave up her career as lawyer. One day she finds that her husband is having multiple affairs across different countries.

Jugnu is a lonely yet successful event planner, who is abut to complete her 100^th event at as a wedding project where a chandelier falls on the guests injuring eight of them. Zubaida is an aspiring boxer who hails from a conservative family where her younger brother breaks the secret of her boxing practices to her parents and they confine her in her room. Batool is a murderer who returns from the prison after serving a 20-year sentence. She murdered her husband as the latter tried to sexually abuse their biological daughter. She comes to live in Zubaida’s neighbourhood and gets the job of a maid at Jugnu’s place. She helps Zubaida to escape and takes her to Jugnu. On the same day, Sara also comes to meet Jugnu after knowing about her husband’s affair. The four unite—and Sara pitches the idea of starting a body that will help women, rather wives to find out whether their husbands are cheating on them. They name this organisation as Churails. Along with the social and humane angle in this work, money too got involved. And where there is money, more people joined and work got better with the team being happy. Initial investment was provided by Sara’s husband as she confronted him and gave him a deal of appearing to be a perfect family in exchange of the money and workspace. The story takes its own pace as the individual lives of the team members get unfolded, revealing the secrets that lighted up the fire of motivation stronger, until one case makes things go brutal.

Churails is a an absolutely unpredictable concept paired well with good cinematic elements. Let’s take a tour at all those constituents that made Churails a “hatke” series on Zee5 online.

Script

The script of Churails doesn’t really invest a lot of creativity and emphasis on the dialogue framing of characters. What it basically does is perfect maintenance of the diction of each and every character. These dictional variances come out as the demarcations and give each character its own shape.

Acting

Sarwat Gilani plays her part with absolute grace, confidence and simplicity. The morale of her character stands upright and she takes it to the top in portraying Sara. Yasra did a fine job as well. The periodic yet contextual roll in her eyes made the character of Jugnu come out like fire. Mehar was absolutely stunning as Zubaida. However, she required better direction. And the star of the show was Nimra Buch—the stare in her eyes, the base in her voice, everything can give the viewers a chill down their spines.

Music

Kashif Ejaz nailed the show with apt use of background scores. Music in Churails did not top the list in the use of mellifluous melodies but the scores went so well with the situations that they delivered an absolute chunk of life from the series.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

The cinematography of Churails is not very delectable, but Mo Azmi did quite a well job in maintaining the flavour of the series. Special effects made the visuals absolutely delectable. Kamal Khan’s work as the editor of Churails is also commendable.

Direction

Asim Abbasi did a very good job as the director of Churails. Each and every character was crafted with immense attention to the details. The part of the series where Sheila’s truth got revealed and Sara decided to help her but not to take her back at work is one of the best directions in which the story could have taken its pace. A little more utilisation of Mehar Bano in the character of Zubaida could have taken Churails to another level. Nevertheless, Churails delivers excellent performance, unique storyline and hence can be considered one of the best web series on Zee5, despite its length of 10 long episodes.
