Red (2021) Trailer

Ram has done an excellent job and has pulled the movie literally on his shoulders. Especially when we look at the drawbacks of the film, he owns the role and film completely. He portrayed both the contrasting roles with ease. Cool and good looking role on one side,  and a con as well as the matters of law on the other side.

The way two characters were created was good, but the time to establish in film,on screen was a long affair. It nearly eats up initial half, the movie drags in the start, screen play is too slow. The two pairs meet, and the final juxtapositioning, all are time consuming, and go nowhere really.

Malavika Sharma and Amritha Iyer both have skinny roles, not much to talk about. The romance is not attractive either, very predictable and routine.

Vennela Kishore and Satya in their minor part in the film, give laughter scenes in the film.

The film is interesting just before the interval when, Nivetha the female cop and Sampath Raj, another cop , enter. The movie gains a high when both Siddharth and Adithya come face to face, and realise they have a past. This ignites the animosity between them, which is routine in the dual role movies!

As mentioned, there is a background , where the two, as children meet, the film has mixed the past and present of ram, finely. While this happens and the investigation is on, it s difficult as every question in the investigation leads to no answer or blind end.

Nivetha’s character, if was written well, it would have added weight to the movie. In fact it also looks silly when she is trying to help Ram. Although the movie has a lot of good stuff, still if care had been taken in terms of consistency, editing and narration then it would have been a big league movie.

Dialogues in the film are impressive. Production values are decent enough.

Though the movie is touted as thriller, the thrill of investigation is missing, which is again a big drawback of film.

Verdict

The movie is good in pieces, Ram as an actor is commendable. The movie can be watched for him. Narration is old and not much newness to the whole film.
