Jeet Ki Zid story revolves around the determination of a soul who wants to win—not for himself, for his country, for his family and most importantly, for his elder brother.

Deep Singh is shown to be a soldier of the Special Task Force, who is never afraid to go the extra mile, even when the hard and fast protocols of the rule book don’t permit. But the beginning of his story started from the encouragement that his elder brother used to shower on him during their school days. Rajat was a school champion—in academics as well as in sports, he was a fresh blaze of fire. His dream was to join the army and ace his career to the tent of Special Task Force. His younger brother Deep, was not a genius like him. Rather, he was a premature born and hence lacked physical strength to some degree. But Rajat never gave hope on him.

When Rajat and Deep visit Kashmir with their Mom and Dad, some a group of militants abduct the two kids with their mom and captivate them inside a house. When Rajat tries to revolt, he is separated from Deep and their mom into another room. Soon army comes to the rescue, and while they were able to rescue Deep and his mom, Rajat dies in a blast planned by the militant group. Since then, Deep pushes himself hard with only one goal—to join the STF and eradicate militancy in Kashmir.

Getting rejected once from STF, Deep returns next year, with the promise of working harder. He befriends Surya, after getting defeated from him in a boxing match. Col. Chaudhary is the chief trainer and he pushes every candidate beyond limits—harsher in Deep’s case. Finally, Deep achieved his dream and grabs success in every operation. On Surya’s marriage, he meets Jaya, a friend of Surya’s wife. Eventually they fell in love and just before their engagement, Deep rushes to the Kargil war and gets badly injured. The lower half of his body gets paralyzed and Major Deep Singh gets stagnant on a wheel chair.

After marrying Jaya, Deep finds a new purpose in life, when Jaya makes him pursue MBA and then get a job in the corporate industry. But Deep’s heart craves for the soil of army. Yet, he is not comfortable in visiting the cantonment on wheel chair and eventually is giving up hope. A helpless Jaya runs to Col. Chaudhary, who had retired by now and he decided to get back Deep on his feet. And finally, after a rigorous trial and fail exhaustive training of 6 months, Deep is back on his feet.

What wins in the end nothing but his “zid” or determination to win over all adversities of life.

Jeet Ki Zid is an excellent execution of an ordinary plot, keeping in mind the limitation of a commoner, who is not blessed with boons of being the best in everything.

Script

Jeet Ki Zid Zee5 had an eventful script. The script held a lot of good and contextual research work. The colloquial language of the army personnels, the unease of an introvert to spur out the words of love—everything complemented the script very well.

Acting

Amit Sadh is a good ace at his position in Bollywood. If things turn out good, he might be the next in tunnel after Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The same soul performing in Sony Liv web series Avrodh has done a brilliant job as Deep in Jeet Ki Zid. They way he stood while not being able to walk without crutch or wheel chair, is an excellent example of what we call method acting. Amrita Puri was spontaneous and an epitome of elegance in the harsh backdrop of the series. With brevity on the screen space, Sushant Singh nailed his character. The harshness of his character persisted throughout the series, with mild oscillations to the soft corners. His delivery took the overall performance of Jeet Ki Zid to a different level.

Music

Nikhil Sachan has indeed done a great job as the man behind music of Jeet Ki Zid. The music truly complemented the context of the series and brought out the real flavour of the show.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

Jeet Ki Zid web series could not have had a better work of cinematography. The craft of camera projected by the director of photography, Akhilesh Shrivastava, was simply beyond just WOW. The angles have shot have been chosen with so much of perfection that the visuals of this series are bound to have an eclectic impact on the viewers. Sharp and contextual editing complemented the magical cinematography in the best possible way.

Direction

Vishal Mangalorkar had an excellent directorial approach towards Jeet Ki Zid. The passion behind the making of the series reflected throughout. His idea of portraying Deep not as a genius but as a commoner who tries hard and harder but fails at times despite complete determination is beautiful. The way Deep prepared for CAT exam and the way he got treated at times, with distinguish, even if he was a soldier, has been portrayed in the best possible way. Overall, Jeet Ki Zid is a must watch for all and is a great motivating watch.
