Taish Web Series Review – Family feuds versus friendship caramelised with love. 

Feud in families is a common theme. It does take us to seriousness of films like Ram Leela and also to the comedy of films like Two States. Most of the time, what makes the conflict watchable and enjoyable is how far the extent of bitterness goes, or how sweetly the cute little conflicts manage to add up to the flavour of the film. Zee5 new 2020 web series Taish is a 6-episode series, based on a similar theme.

The baseline of the story is marked by two NRI families. The two families engage into huge rounds of differences and end up as enemies of the sworn kind. But what is the consequence? Unlike other films and series, where love marks the caramel lining of this sweet and sour drama, Taish hinges on bloodshed family conflicts. Even a greater challenge, friendship comes into a major play for Taish.

The long drawn hatred as regards to the tough feuds existing, has given a tough challenge to the two pairs of lovers. On the other hand, two best friends have ended up at the edge of profound enmity. So much so, that it seems that just like more love resembles more hatred when things go south, more depth in friendship stirs up the juice of bitterness more vehemently when times turn ugly. Reminding of Shatrughan Sinha and Jeetendra in Zamana Deewana.

Taish is a good web series also presented in the form of a movie on Zee5. It has the power of muscle, the belief of friendship and of course, the passion of love.

Script

Jim Sarbh, Harshvardhan Rane and Pulkit Samrat get nearly equal weightage in the script of Taish. But somewhere in the flow Kriti Kharbanda is underutilised. But the script has a lot of punch and power in it. Be it the dialogues or be it the monologue, the script maintains perfect diction and dialect and sculpts out the project with strong characterisation.

Acting

What charges up the atmosphere of the film is undoubtedly the honest energy of each of the casting members. Jim Sarbh and Harshvardhan Rane ruled the series with excellent performance and magnificent delivery of dialogues. Kriti Kharbanda equally did a great job, making us reminiscent of her performances in Four More Shots and Mission Mangal. Sanjeeda Sheikh’s work as Jahaan is also worthy of appreciation.

Music

Gaurav Godkhindi deserves a huge round of applauds for making the perfect background scores matching up to the situations in Taish. He truly proved that music actually stirs up the overall atmosphere, flavour and substance of any audio visual project on earth if implemented the right way.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

Harshvir Oberai’s skills as the cinematographer of Taish takes the visuals of the movie to a different level. Shots of abstract objects were taken at perfect angles with the best possible balance of light and shadow. Priyank Prem Kumar also worked well as the editor of Taish.

Direction

Bejoy Nambiar’s directorial approach to Taish too good. The presence and use of muscle, although made the series somewhat inclined more on the commercialization aspect, did not mess much with the basic substance of the series. But the only negative scenario that restricts Taish to become one of the best productions of Zee5 Originals is far-fetching. A person gets his lawyer friend employed to send him to imprisonment so that he can commit a murder and then getting out on bail just before the job is done is way too farfetched.
