Expiry Date web series review – Till death do us part

The story of Expiry Date Zee5 we series is a complete package of thrill and suspense. However, that is not the central theme of the story. In fact, the beauty of the series is that you keep guessing what is the show actually about and what is going to hit next. The story primarily revolves around infidelity.

Love at first sight gradually vanishes out when attraction disappears and mistrust begins to set in slowly. Vishwa and Disha have a love marriage and are madly in love with each other. But when he learns that Disha is cheating on him and secretly dates her gym instructor Sunny, he kills his Desdemona. He safely disposes off the body and files a missing report for Disha to the police.

But the issue does not end here. That same day, Sunny too gets killed by his wife Sunitha. She too feigns ignorance and when the matter comes to the police, the two collaborate to make up a tale that Sunny and Disha eloped together as they were dating each other for quite some time. But then again, another third soul is there who actually knows about the dark secrets and tries to get back to the duo by blackmailing them.

Script

The script of Expiry Date doesn’t really invest a lot of creativity and emphasis on the dialogue framing of characters. What it basically does is perfect maintenance of the diction of each and every character. These dictional variances come out as the demarcations and give each character its own shape.

Acting

Tony Luke is the star of the show. In addition to extremely well-groomed delivery of the dialogues, his expressions rule the series. The moment when he murdered his beloved, the pain he experienced in accepting the fact that his spouse is actually cheating on him—Tony Luke actually set himself free in the labyrinth of betrayal that Vishwa is about to explore. Sneha Ullal also did a great job as Sunitha.

Music

Anoop Rubens nailed the show with apt use of background scores. Music in Expiry Date did not top the list in the use of mellifluous melodies but the scores went so well with the situations that they delivered an absolute chunk of life from the series.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

The cinematography of Expiry Date is a treat to the eyes as Suresh Ragutu did quite a well job in maintaining the flavour of the series. Special effects made the visuals absolutely delectable. Arun Thachoth’s work as the editor of Expiry Date could have been a little sharper.

Direction

Marthand K. Shankar did a very good job as the director of Expiry Date. Each and every character was crafted with immense attention to the details. Thrill unfolded like the layers of an onion—sometimes with the purity of tears and sometimes with the excitement of a spicy odour that will send down tingles down the spines. Expiry Date is one of the best series made in Zee5 as far as thrillers are concerned.
