Halahal Movie Review – An old wine in a new bottle

The story of Halahal Eros Now movie 2020 is the tale of a father—a father who had immense faith on the inner self of his daughter. The story has its location set in Ghaziabad, where a medical student named Archana is hit by a truck on the road and dies instantly. Her charred body is later recovered from the Highway of Ghaziabad. Although the state police declare this as an open and shut case of suicide, Archana’s father Dr. Shiv Shankar Sharma can not bring himself to accept this theory. According to him, Archana was never so weak at heart to give away her life, just like that. He decides to get to the root of the incident.

But in his way, he has to overcome a lot of hurdles. The primary one being the non-cooperation of the police. When a case can be closed easily, why spend time on it? But sometimes, even the evil can emerge as the savior. And in this case, Dr. Sharma actually finds his savior in an evil.

Yusuf Quresh is a cop who is known to make his primary income from bribes. And then a dejected father, resorts to this person to get justice for his daughter, and dig deeper into the matter. The duo is all set to find out, what actually happened to Archana Sharma, a young girl with dreams in her eyes.

Halahal movie Barun Sobti revolves around a good theme, with an initially gripping story. But as time passes, the tale becomes quite monotonous and predictable.

Script

The script of Halahal movie Eros Now holds a good reason to be called pathbreaking. This is because of the writer’s tremendous research work on the dialect and diction of the characters. Dialogue framing had a lot of punch in it.

Acting

Sachin Khedekar projects a multi-layered performance—each layer having a different dimension altogether. When a child leaves the earth before his or her parents, how much does his parent(s) get a chance to mourn the death? A huge chunk of time just passes by in accepting the loss and enquiring—why did this happen? Sachin Khedekar portrays every ounce of emotion with great expertise. And Barun Sobti—his intense performance would make you hard to believe that this is the same man who made us elated as the sweet and charming Shravan in his popular daily soap—Baat Humaari pakki hai on Sony Entertainment Television.

Music

Under the supervision of Naman Adhikari , Sageesh Bhandari, Arjun Bhaybhang, and Abhinav Sharma music of Halahal was quite good as it served as a good way of bringing out the thrill of situations.    

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

With Piyush Puty as the DOP, the work of camera surprisingly did not make a mark for the audience. A lot more could have been done for the cinematography of the film. However, Nitesh Bhatia did a good job as the editor of Halahal movie 2020.

Direction

Randip Jha did pretty well as far as his directional debut is concerned in the world of feature films through Halahal. His idea of showing Yusuf as a corrupt officer and not a selfless soul who works for justice was actually very interesting. But the character of Yusuf actually did not receive that in depth definition that it should have got to change the monotonous track of Halahal. Nevertheless, with apt casting and intense performance, Halahal is a good treat to your taste buds of emotions.
