Poison2 web series review – A story of manipulative revenge

Poison season 2 on Zee5 is a story which contains a profound aroma of thrill and suspense coupled with an extremely posh lifestyle. With everything shining and shimmering on the backdrop, the series continues to reflect irony and unexpected turn of events. The story has nothing much to reveal as thrillers don’t fall to the category of revealing tales.

Jaiveer along with his father, is accused of a heinous crime of diamond robbery. And obviously, the father-son duo did not commit this crime. So, what plan does fate have for them? Well, the basic plan for them was to change their fate. So, after an illusive accident in the police vehicle, Jaiveer emerges as Aditya—a jockey. He surprisingly wins a race against team Josh, which is the team of Harsh, Sara and Oscar. He also then buys a racecourse that the trio had planned to buy on lease. And thus, the rift between the two parties begins to widen. And the result of this tectonic diversion is none but an absolute Mariana Trench—and that is revenge.

Poison2 is one of the finest web series made in the crime genre, which never lets you escape the brutal flavor of the crimes.

Script

The script of Poison Season 2 Zee5 goes perfectly well with the well-built characterisation of the series. Dialogues are designed with good research and reactive opportunities. The sharpness of the script catalysed the whirling thrill of the series. There could have been no better use of dialect and diction in Poison 2.

Acting

Pawan Chopra, Gaurav Sharma and Joy Sengupta stand to be the best performers on Poison 2 Zee5 2020 web series. Aftab also did an excellent job. Going by the physique of most of the male characters, the chiselled gym-made body stood to be more of disadvantage than a merit. This is because at times physical appearance of a particular character becomes very important and makes a significant role in the characterisation part. But when multiple actors in the same project get their bodies on the 6-8 pack side, then the difference continues to fade out. Makeup and costumes could have covered up this similarity had they been given a little more attention to.

Music

Srijan Vinay Vaishnav took the show to a different level with apt use of background scores. The background scores went very well with the situations, thereby bringing out the thrill of the series.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

The cinematography of Poison2 is simply outstanding, with Ravi Walia as the DOP. Special effects made the visuals absolutely a treat to the eyes. Manish More’s work as the editor of Poison2 is also worthy of appreciation.

Direction

Vishal Pandya did a great job as the director of Poison 2 Zee5. But it has to be kept in mind that although the exteriors of this project shone with glamour and the polish of refinement, the overall substance of the film proved to be very shallow. Except the thriller part, it might take you to the roads of remembrance to the second season of Four More Shots Please. The shallow approach towards a powerful expression called revenge seems to be no more acceptable to the Indian audience. Specially on Zee5, where series like Code-M, Abhay and Churails are featured, a lot more depth in plot was required for Poison 2 to keep in pace with at least its first season. None the less, Poison 2 is entertaining and most significantly, thrilling enough to make a project enjoyable these days.
