The story of Sony Liv originals production Love J Action web series 2021 starts off with the story narrated by Jackson aka Jaikishan Awasthi, after he was recovered from a muddy area by the police of Delhi and sent back to Lucknow, his hailing city where the state police was vehemently in search of him and his lover, Kamya. Kamya studies in the same college as her twin brother Minty, who is the “son” of the family. Their father is a typical misogynist who wanted to flush out the unborn baby of his wife knowing that she is going to give birth to a girl child. But then he learnt that there are twins involved and one of them is a boy. And hence Kamya came on earth, no better treated by her brother or mother. When youth kissed her, her marriage was fixed with an equally control freak—SP Abhay Anand of Lucknow Police. But Kamya never loved him, and her movements were restricted to Minty’s mercy. In the same college, Jackson was a student, two years younger to Kamya. He fell in love with her and the two started dating secretly. On the day of her Sangeet ritual, Kamya fled from Lucknow with Jackson. On reaching Delhi next morning, Kamya fled from Jackson as well, with her real lover, Vikrant. Vikrant was a subordinate of SP Abhay Anand who imparted Karate lessons to her and the two had fallen in love. Kamya needed a cover to flee from Lucknow and hence used Jackson for that. When Jackson didn’t let her go with Vikrant, Vikrant bet him up and Kamya helped him to throw Jackson into the Jamuna river.

But the real story begins when a free Jackson starts to find Kamya and eventually locates her in Kolkata. The series takes its own pace with a final punch of surprise at last.

Love J Action web series has focussed primarily on twists and surprises. But the problem lies in the background of the characters and also of the events shown.

Script

The script of Love J Action web series Sony Liv contains the filling of context. Although the script started off well with “Koshish karne waale ki kabhi haar nahi hoti”, but as time went by, the script fell into the clutches of monotony. However, as the script was eventful, it managed to pull through well.

Acting

Anud Singh Dhaka was more than just awesome in his approach towards Jackson. He slipped into the skin of the character and not acted but lived the role of Jackson to the fullest. Starting from the expressions to the short narratives, he did a fantastic job. Kangan gave a good colour to the character of Kamya. Unlike the conventional “heroines” of Bollywood, she did not pay much attention in shedding tears only, but also blurting out the anguish and pain through loud screams right after paying back her brother Minty with what he deserved. Purru tried to come with an intense look and expression, but let’s face it, not everyone can be Probir Roy Chowdhury of Baishey Srabon, especially when the soul of the character is not cleansed.

Music

Background scores supported the sequences well with the turn of events. However, a little more attention could have been invested in music for Love J Action.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

Cinematography of the series pulled through very well, with exotic moments and intense clips of reality merged in a beautiful blend. Good editing supported the series in a very good way.

Direction

A little more minute approach of Saurabh Tewari in the direction of Love J Action could have made the series come out to be one of the best. Towards the end, we suddenly come to know that Kamya is actually in love with a girl, Nayan, her childhood friend. But how did she connect with both Vikrant and Jackson. Vikrant was part of a secret gold deal, which was obviously illegal. But how did he get into all this is also not explained well enough. Nayan’s role had absolutely no characterisation. And just when Abhay had caught hold of Vikrant, how did someone influence his superiors to suspend him, and who was that influencer—all these questions remained unanswered. Other than these loose ends, Love J Action is undoubtedly a good source of entertainment.
