Kaagaz movie review: A lifeless presentation with a patch of landscape
Kaagaz Hindi movie holds only one star in terms of performance—none other than the flawless Pankaj Tripathi. The story line is simple, but not so common. Bharat Lal Mitrak is an epitome of simplicity. He has a small shop, with a loving wife and a cute little son. He doesn’t want to achieve something great in life. He is happy and content with what he already has. But then, his wife wants Bharat Lal to expand his business, by taking up some loan from the bank. And when Bharat Lal ends up requesting for loan in the bank, he is shocked to find that officially on paper, he is dead. And there the struggle begins for the Mitrak family, to establish Bharat Lal Mitrak as a genuine person who is alive just not in flesh and blood, but also on paper—hence the name, Kaagaz.

Kaagaz movie online is a project with great potential—but the casting except Tripathi made it fall flat.
Script
The script of Kaagaz movie Zee5 has the charisma of well-framed dialogues. But at the same time, it is not sufficiently eventful. Punches lacked in the dialogues. Especially for Bharat Lal’s wife, the diction of UP had a lot of discontinuity.
Acting
Pankaj Tripathi is a tale of enigma. He can be a ball of fire like in Ludo, he can be cold-blooded as the Kaleen Bhaiya of Mirzapur and at the same time, he can be an emblem of modesty as in Madhav Mishra of Criminal Justice. This soul with a golden heart slips with ease into the lively character of Bharat Lal and tries vehemently to shower all what he has in order to give some seasoning to this bland presentation. Most of the other casting members performed with visible lack in context—both of their respective characters as well as the overall story.
Music
Under the supervision of sound designer Manav Shrotriya, the music and background scores of Kaagaz could have been a little more introspective. The flavour of the film could have been seasoned in a better way with more thoughtful compositions.
Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing
With Arkodeb Mukherjee as the DOP, the work of camera clearly nailed it. Important cinematographic moments were captured in the best possible way with poignant angles of shot. Kamesh Karna has also worked well as the on-line editor of Kaagaz movie watch online.
Direction
Satish Kaushik and Zeel Thacker were not very particular and accurate about their directorial approach in Kaagaz. The lack of attention to detail was an important flaw that turned out to be the main reason for the fall. Casting could have been much more introspective. The choice of supporting cast simply didn’t match well with Pankaj Tripathi. The flavour of the movie was lost due to this cliché approach.
