Gatham Telugu Movie Review –  A first class thriller, eliciting an unexpected and sudden excitement among the audience.

Gatham in Telugu language means “The past”. It is a well – written and narrated film by Indian origin crew settled in USA, good try and great efforts to come up with this kind of work! It is a great way to stir the way the audience thinks and imagines when in suspense.

Gatham Telugu Movie starts with a scene where we see display cards with a written message as “Every human being has a bit of psychopath in them”. The movie begins with a very familiar feel but it’s the art of the director who gives us the experience of expected , and the unexpected.

The opening scene is a beautiful scenery of snowcapped mountains but right there, we are introduced to a couple in a fearful state, even more; they are on the verge to die. Following that, there is an action-crime scene, and then one of the main character Rishi is introduced to the film, (Rishi aka Rakesh gabhele has a very similar voice to Vijay deverakonda of Arjun Reddy Fame) . Rishi is in hospital where he has been diagnosed with a brain damage and memory loss.

With loss of memory, Poojitha ,who is another main character, is introduced as his girlfriend. When she comes to know about memory loss, Poojitha plays an understanding and mature girlfriend. In this situation she assures him to take to his parent’s place.

The thrill of the story begins when the couple’s car breaks down while crossing the snowy mountains, and then a stranger( Arjun aka Bhargava Poludasu) offers shelter and help. Jittery moments continue when Harsha(who is the son of Arjun) begins to trouble Poojitha, and Arjun takes his son’s side. Now that the story has reached a clear state where the situations have occurred in a very fearful cum thrilling manner, story builds up further on this plot where lot of twists happen making it a unique one, as already many movies with such plot have been made in the past.

Screenplay and Story

Movie scores highest in terms of story and narration, the beauty of the rest of the movie lies in tricky moves of both the characters and the situations they are in. How Rishi remembers nothing of past, more story would kill the mere purpose of watching the movie. It is a must watch movie for at least one time, esp. for people who enjoy a spine thrilling suspense stories. Further to it is an intelligent, good-musical movie by Kiran. He also weaves the story very well by good picturization skills, especially when the father (Arjun) speaks about the sins of his son.

Though there are some areas in movie where some loop holes exist. Eg . a police investigation, which leads to nothing! Cast , apart from main characters are not very impressive , because at the end of the film it should be a good wholesome movie , where we feel like an overall good watch! The highlight is the production part which has been a meager one, but the director and rest of cast has made it to the point, no-nonsense story which reaches its end point without losing much of focus.

Cinematography

Cinematography is worth a watch. Lights, especially in dark is a perfect match with good color sense. The car chase in the action sequences during end and the drones for spying have been a great choice to make the movie like a real action thriller.

Back ground music is good, especially during the crime scenes, screenplay is good too.

It is a 1hr 44min movie. This movie can be given a special appreciation to take a simple story, which is repetitive too. Within the given budget, it has got a great story telling and narration. Outcome was most favorable with the movie being a clear, intelligent masterpiece.

Performances

Rakesh Galebhe and Bhargava Poludasu’s acting skills are commendable. Poojitha fits the supporting role as girl-friend role well. Amateur, but promising cast as they really seem to be budding and honing their acting skills.

Though we agree it is a great movie in terms of production, direction and acting skills, it has lost its foot in terms of  imagination. In USA we hardly have such crime scenario business.

Overall it is a good watch, at least once.
