Commit Mental Web Series Review – Heart over mind , commitments in a relationship.

Commit Mental is a latest web series on AHA and has been an popular series through its trailers , many viewers were looking forward to watch it. Phani aka Udbhav comes to India from USA to propose marriage to her girlfriend Anu aka Punarnavi after a three year long distance relationship. This story is a official remake of we show permanent roommates.

When he finally proposes marriage, Anu agrees to the proposal but has difficulties in commitment. It is when they do a short marriage scene and get to know , how both are equally uncomfortable with the commitments towards marriage and leading a life together. The story of this much awaited web series is all about how the two of them with different ideologies overcome the differences and finally come together.

A 30 year old Phani flies from USA with a proposal, a teddy and flowers to meet Anu; proposal is of marriage. An immature 24 year old Anu has just started her life where she has begun her career and enjoying her life. Never we feel like they are 30 and 24 year old, it seems like a 16 yr and 24yr old love story. Anu and Phani are two opposite people in terms of ideologies, Phani is loud while Anu is calm. Phani tries too hard for everything while Anu is least bothered. Phani is non-vegetarian while Anu is a vegetarian. Anu is easy to go, happy go lucky while , Phani is very persuasive in his endeavours.

With so many difference they still in love each other, and try and find ways to stick together! In a major part of the movie, Anu feels her relation is yet to grow, and also has a phobia to marry with such a shaky relation. This is what motivates Phani to be more persistent in efforts, which he does with ease,  as a part of his character.

Conversational breaks filled by the background music throughout the movie makes this movie unique. For instance, Anu lost in thoughts with a theme music is very good.

Though the movie is all about a transition in the way their characters had to evolve, nothing of such thing happens we do not feel the change , but the movie takes a shape where they come close, acting looks artificial at many points, characters do not grow much.

Commit mental is a drag series thankfully each episode is not more than 30 minutes which makes it a manageable watch. Though the initial trailers seemed like it is a romcom, it is less of it. But there is a scene to scene flow which looks natural , a plus point for movie.

The other characters are Rithu who is Anu’s friend. She takes the side of Anu on how she feels about the relation, her boyfriend’s role is a cheesy and loose one; played by Venkatesh Kakumanu. Vishnu as a house owner is good and does his role well adding up to the comedy of Commit mental.

It is a five episode web series, throughout the series it is a emotional melodrama. We lose the the story while watching it continuously, story is an utter drag. Story while narrating off the screen looks cute, relatable and lively but is not so on the screen, udbhav has managed to play his role in a fashionable way, punarnavi is good most of times in her way of acting, Vishnu and venkatesh did the comedy well and kept the flow of movie.

The emotions of punarnavi could have been more intense, by which the movie could have got more weightage as emotional movie, and also the role of hero would have made more sense.

Music & Narration

Back ground music is good and gives movie an overall added value, Narration is easy, sweet, and decent.

Verdict

The characters grow on you very slowly, All in All it is a current generation romcom, which has been made in a simple and decent way.
