Bombhaat Review – A dull, lack lustre sci-fi tale.

Bombhaat movie starts with opening quote of Alfred Hitchcock “Logic ends when the drama begins; Drama ends when logic begins”. The story begins with Vicky, his girlfriend and his fate? What happens next when his girl friend beaks up with him, forms the initial part of film. Next is when he tries to mend his fate, how he seeks help from his professor cum scientist who is also his guide, but all of sudden the scientist goes missing. What happens to him? His daughter Maya is introduced, what is her role? And then the great revelation that she is a humanoid gives the punch to movie. Why is she here, who is she? A mad scientist is shown in the movie.What is his connection with Maya’s father? Why is he after Maya? All this is what we find out when we watch this movie.

‘Bombhaat’ meaning in Telugu language is ‘amazing’. Alas, nothing in the movie made us say Bombhaat. It’s an ott release on Amazon prime.

Bombhaat is a romantic, drama and sci fi movie. The story is about Vicky aka Sai Sushanth Reddy whose character is of someone who has bad luck. The bad luck stroke is tagged to him right from his time of birth.The time when he is born, his father has a paralytic attack. This is the time from where he gets the “bad luck boy” image. His father (Tanikella barani) recovers after 10years, all this time Vicky has been branded as full time, harbinger of bad luck.

First quarter or little more of the movie discussed about his ill fate and how he is struggling with it and how his girlfriend Chandini Choudhari aka Chaithra insults him and leaves him. (Though he is unluck still he is lucky to have a girl friend in his life)

After a decent 50 minutes, the movie only paces on how the fate of Vicky is and how he tries to make ways to improve it. Because of this ill fate associated with him he starts believing in science, which is the only way he could defend his bad luck.  By his fate he meets Dr Acharya aka Sishir who tells him not to believe in superstition’s instead believe in science. This is what makes the movie little reasonable and little easy for Vicky’s life. All of sudden Dr Acharya goes missing, and Vicky is in a position where he has to take care of his daughter Maya aka Simran Chaudhari, now here comes some twist to the movie, Maya is a humanoid. Simran is really good in the movie and keeps the audience well entertained. She is a young talent and we  can look forward for more from her.

This movie and especially the character Maya reminds us of character Chitty from Robot. Only difference is we have a female humanoid , which is actually good, especially for the movie.

Vicky has a plan, where he wants to make chaitra feel jealous. By making her believe that Vicky and Maya are in love, this love story angle is where you feel its not so great. Further, how a mad scientist has escaped from jail and how he lusts for Maya.

Performances

Sai is charming in the movie, but this alone could not lift the movie, Both Simran and Chandini lack emotions throughout the movie.

Sishir has got good screen space and did a good job.

Direction

It is naïve, in terms of characterization emotions etc. the narration is good, but the story could have been better written. The last few minutes of movie where the hero has made some scientific inventions is also not very developed, It’s a simply out of nowhere.

Production

Production values are very good, because developing a sci- fi movie in low budget is not a joke. Camera work is amazing.

Music

Music is hummable, songs rightly placed in the situations, throughout the movie.

Screenplay

Screen play is the huge minus point as we could not feel the shift of movie in scene by scene way.

Verdict

It’s a repeat attempt on sci-fi series, nothing new really.
