Bicchoo ka Khel review -When life becomes no less than a novel

The baseline of the story of ALT Balaji web series Bicchoo ka Khel will take us to the somewhat similar basic storyline of the film Happy New Year. While Charlie in Happy New Year wanted to take revenge on Charan Grover for being responsible for the doom of Charlie’s dad and eventual suicide, there is a subtle twist in the story of Akhil Srivastava, the male protagonist of Bicchhoo Ka Khel Alt Balaji.

Akhil is a common young man residing in the powerful state of Uttar Pradesh. He has big dreams—he wants to become a prolific writer. But little does he know, that his own life will become no less than an eventful novel. Akhil’s father had committed suicide, at least that was known to him. But eventually, it was found that he was murdered. Thus Bicchoo ka Khel or the game of scorpions brings out the flavour of mystery, lined with the caramel of love interest between Akhil and Rashmi.

Bicchoo ka Khel is a not an exceptional project as far as the plot is concerned. But when a web series is made, there is actually much more to notice about other aspects rather than focusing only on the plot.

Script

It won’t be wrong to call the script of Bicchoo ka Khel absolutely pathbreaking. And what really makes the script amazing, is the beautiful way of characterisation in each and every part of the script. Dialogues have been framed in the best possible way keeping in mind not only the characters, but also the casting members.

Acting

Divyendu Sharma is as amazing as usual. His delivery of dialogues, humour breaks, sudden outbursts and of course silent manifestation of emotions and expressions—everything has its own sense of completeness. Anshul Chahuhan adds an elegant touch to the otherwise rough and tough blood-stained flavour of the series. Trishna Mukherjee has also done an excellent job in her short screen presence.

Music

Keeping in mind the backdrop of the film as well as the primary theme of revenge, a lot more attention could have been paid to the music department. Background scores could have been a little more thrilling and substantial.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

However, Sunil Pillai’s work as the DOP of Bicchoo ka Khel has got scopes of improvement. Web series written in this backdrop could have had a little more emphasis on the camera work. The editing team has done a great job, thereby holding the consistency of the series in a beautiful way.

Direction

Gibran Noorani, the director of Bicchoo ka Khel showed an excellent approach to present the story and execute the simple plot with exquisite ease. A little insight to multiple details could have made the series an exceptional production. However, post seeing Divyendu Sharma as Munna in Mirzapur, it’s more than just a treat to the eyes to enjoy his delivery as the determined Akhil of Bicchoo ka Khel.
