Addham Web Series Review -Well intended Telugu Anthology with a thought provoking take on moral integrity
Addham Web Series is woven around the concepts of ethical choices we make during difficult situations. The meaning of the title “Addham” is mirror. Addham Aha explores the morality, guilt and moral conflicts in an interesting way. As often as possible it is taking the viewers by surprise in the end.
The story of Adam Web Series is written by Siva Ananth, the anthology revolves around three short stories in which the characters of the story needs to make choices that often questions our intuition of right and wrong. The story makes us think distinctly if we can truly differentiate the shades of grey and come to a judgment which is lacking of guilt or doubt. By doing all this, eventually, the story reflects our own biases in a world where our own moral and ethical choice bounds are often compromised.
A young man (Prasanna) who is dealing a rocky marital life with an aggressive life partner seeks to spend a night with a call girl in a hotel room. During the conversation with a young woman who comes to meet him at a bar, he ends up changing his own perception of himself as a person. He comes to a dilemma between the choices he made. He comes to a tricky situation where he thinks that was he wrong to cheat his own wife? Or was he right to seek to be in a good relationship? This is a Cross road story which is one of the three stories directed by Barath Neelakantan.
A psychiatrist and therapist (Varalaxmi Sarathkumar) meets a big real estate business man (Kishore) who expresses guilt about the crime he may have committed. Though she is bound by her duty she is not able to treat her patient. As a responsible citizen she wants to do something about this kind of difficult situations. Later, she changes her perception when her patient explains about his guilt feeling. Is her decision right? Or she cheated herself? This is the second story The Unwhisperable Secret, directed by Siva Ananth,

Performances
Varalakshmi has done a fairly good job during the short period of time she has appeared. But, watching actors like Prasanna and Pavithrah Marimuthu in less important characters is very disappointing. It’s good to see Gowtham Sundararajan back in action after a very long time- his Crossroads story is very interesting than the others. Arjun Chidambaram and Abhirami Venkatachalam doesn’t have any interesting part of the stories. Jayaprakash and Rohini come up with brilliant performances in the story and they aptly suited for the given characters. It’s a great skill to utilize the screen presence in a very short period to enhance the richness of the story. Mr. Praveen who cast as a teenager also shows his acting potentials during the short time period.
Highlights of the series
Praveen and Rohini performance on “The Road Never Ends” which is directed by Sarjun.
Drawbacks
With a team of very well known actors like Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar, Prasanna, Rohini Molleti and still doesn’t delivers much. The cast and crew who don’t know the language of the content is also superficial factor. The conversation feels rehearsed and is not convincing of the emotions, due to the broken language.
Conclusion
The common concept of all the three stories of the films is – morality. But not all these stories evoke the same response. This is a the beginning of the new change, which brought new wave of short stories alive on screen and one can wish for.
