What The Love Netflix Review – An Earnest Attempt At A Reality Date Show By Karan Johar
A viewer may find this Web Series Anthology anywhere in the range of an Agony Aunt Column, to a sincere attempt at addressing mental health and insecurities, of seemingly regular people. Well, emotions are complex and love is a process of putting oneself out there in hope of acceptance, requisition, and fulfillment. Karan Johar and Team have at least got the human process right. It comes from within.
Well, our take is that What The Love Karan Johar is business crafty, but with a heart. And the result does look like a sincere attempt to show a path to a few wandering souls. The weakness, however, is in being able to take away the celebrity quotient from it and making it strictly real.
What The Love Contestants
Karan’s pick of seekers of love ranges from a lady who trusts people very easily and has been hurt in the past, a homosexual partner seeker, again with a history of jilts, a workaholic who has been naïve in love, a person with baggage of past, low self-esteem, high self-image and with unreasonable expectations from a partner.
It is indeed an eclectic mix, carefully put together after an evening bash and much research from his psychologist team. The bracketing of the emotions, vulnerabilities, qualities and negative qualities of these individuals and marketing them as prospects to his selected 2 choices of suitors is rather stretched, but works.
The consistency of format in each episode is monotonous esp in the grooming and hairstyling part. The overall excitement of each groomed individual looks contrived at best. But if it is a part of being out there, and a must-do for a suitable match, then why not. Isn’t that what arranged nuptials in India, in any case, look like?

What The Love Celebrity Guests in Season 1
Season 1 Celebrity Guests like Parineeti Chopra, Ali Zafar, Sunny Leone, Arjun Rampal, Human Qureshi, Saif Ali Khan, and Arjun Kapoor add an appeal to What the Love! With Karan Johar. But the real heroes are these regular looking men and women, who find if not Love, then at least a few potential dates to get them started on their quest for love.
Overall, a decent concept for a Reality Date Show, hitherto cheaply executed on Television.
