Dev DD Season 2 web series 2021 holds to be a good sequel of the previous season. Devika aka Vicky has now returned to her parents in the city of Jaipur. She has cut the strings with her lover Anurag. After returning to Jaipur, Devika aims at making herself emotionally strong in order to fight her sentiments towards Anurag. But before she could reorganise her shattered soul, she happens to find out that Anurag is the father of her best friend Chandni. However, Anurag had kept least contact with his daughter and that’s what bothered Devika even more.

In the meantime, Chandni is shown to be in a same sex relationship with Radha. And as the show shoots up in the radar of predictability, the society obviously doesn’t accept the relationship of Radha and Chandni. Devika is shown to fight for her friend and soon she discovers a female foeticide scam in one of the renowned hospitals of Jaipur. She starts to go to the roots of it and takes the help of Aditi, Anurag’s former love interest.

Dev DD Season 2 web series is a very old wine served in new bottle, and that too, not very well-preserved. The creators better understand by now that competition on OTT has become a tougher one, as compared to the same on television.

Script

The script of Dev DD Season 2 web series Zee5+ Alt Balaji is much on the lengthy side with a lot of room for intelligent modifications. Moreover, the script lacked the substance which a series of this level demanded. Dialogues were laden with monotony, and hence played a weak role in active characterisation.

Acting

Asheema Vardaan required a lot of tenderness to give a better shape to her character of Devika. Being bold and upfront doesn’t require to shout out with an agitating shriek attitude throughout the series. Sometimes, politeness when necessary actually adds more weightage to the bold and prominent views of a personality. Sanjay Suri on the other balanced out the tumbling series with a refined and sophisticated performance. He somewhere reminded of the character of Sanjeev Mehra in Paatal Lok, played beautifully by Neeraj Kabi. Rashmi and Rumana did an excellent job in putting up as a couple together.

Music

Dev DD Season 2 had the least to do with music. With the primal foundation of the series being unstable, there’s no point in criticizing the music department.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

If there’s one aspect that actually made a serious attempt to balance out the otherwise bland series, then that’s undoubtedly cinematography. Shreya Gupta did a great job as the Director of Photography for Dev DD: Season 2. The editing team for the series could have done a better job in terms of sharpness.

Direction

Harsh Dedhia started off the series quite well. But compared to the overall message delivered, the story had a needlessly convoluted and lengthy script. The crispness was missing due to lack of attention towards editing. Also, a lot more could be told given the bandwidth of the series.
