Aapkey Kamre Mein Koi Rehta Hai on MX Player 2021 is a series typically based on the recently in-news genre of horror comedy. While classics like Chamatkar stood to be the pioneers in the journey of horror comedy, Stree carried on the legacy after a few years and made the genre a new platform for experimenters.

A group of friends, quintessentially boys, are thrown away by their landlord, and now they are out of shelter. Even in 2021, it is truly difficult to find a place to live in, and when there’s a shortage of money, but the space required is more, the magnitude of the problem multiplies by huge factors. Eventually, the group of friends, Nikhil, Kavi, Subbu and Varun, finds a spacious place on reasonable rates. But they are unaware of the fact that the house is built on a graveyard. Strange phenomena start occurring in no time and slowly they discover that a woman also lives with them in the same place. She stirs the seasoning of adventure and laughter in their lives, unless they discover that she is not a human but a ghost.

Aapkey Kamre Mein Koi Rehta Hai manages to make the viewers enjoy, but for the first watch only.

Script

The script of Aapkey Kamre Mein Koi Rehta Hai web series MX Player lacks the flavour of a horror comedy to some extent. It’s tricky to write a good comic script. It’s also difficult to write a good horror script, where visuals and background scores play the fundamental roles. But what is even more difficult is to punch these to genres and fuse their boundaries with the expertise of adding right proportion of each of the flavours. The script could have been a little more introspective with more attention to the horror side.

Acting

Swara Bhaskar indeed did a fine job as the ghost, absolutely different from the typical ghosts that we mostly get to see in the Vikram Bhatt horror numbers. She is surprisingly graceful in her character and does justice to the role in the best possible way. Sumeet Vyas is another powerhouse of talent who gave everything to the character of Nikhil. Naveen and Ashish also did quite a great job.

Music

Music of Aapkey Kamrey Mein Koi Rehta Hai was not up to the mark. Brince Bora and Vishal Mishra could have done much more in setting up the background scores and themes of the series.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

The cinematography of Aapkey Kamrey Mein Koi Rehta Hai had scopes of improvement. Malay Prakash could have given a little more emphasis on the layering of scenes, capturing of scenic beauty and light and shadow as the Director of Photography of the series. Editing was on the sharper side which could have been polished to some extent.

Direction

Gaurav S. Sinha has put in a lot of effort to make sure that the audience thoroughly enjoys the series. But what goes missing is a sense of binding and a lot more punch in the story.
