Tandav Web Series Review – In politics, being deceived is no excuse.

The story of Amazon Prime originals production Tandav web series 2021 is a well-crafted thriller that has politics as its hard core structural frame. Devki Nandan, the Prime Minister of India is one the verge of winning the elections and becoming the PM for the first time. His son Samar Pratap is dangerously intelligent and is the primary weapon of Devki Nandan for accessing the youth. But Devki ill-treats Samar, throughout his childhood and even when he has proved himself to be better than Devki. Devki has a relationship with Anuradha Kishore, though their love never had the stamp of marriage or social acceptance. Devki wanted Anuradha’s son to be the Defence Minister while Samar wanted Aditi to acquire the position as she was clearly more competent. The bells of change gong hard when Samar poisons his father, with the aid of his wife Ayesha and his friends of IICMS. But during the funeral of Devki Nandan, Anuradha reveals that she knows about Samar’s deeds and would spill out the beans in public if Samar doesn’t recommend her name as the PM. Gurpal Chauhan stands to be the right hand man of Samar Pratap and carries out all below the table activities that actually become the manipulative moves in the chess of politics. While Anuradha becomes the new PM, Samar wants Shiva as his soldier who would help him to turn the labyrinths of Indian Politics as a smooth game for him and a deadly Bhool Bhulaiya for his opponents, both inside and outside his very own JLD party.

Script

Acting

While Tanhaji sparked off the best of Saif Ali Khan after a really long time last year, Tandav had more to show of the Chhote Nawab of Bollywood. Saif’s voice had an extra layer of charisma that brought out the real colour of Samar Pratap. It will be a grave mistake to compare Samar Pratap of Tandav with Munna Bhai of Mirzapur, though their stories have a similar angle. Samar is selfish and ambitious. But he is not brutal. He had to kill his father, but he is also the one who is shown to stay loyal to his wife, despite getting fame and attention throughout his political career. Saif portrayed the beautiful blend of all shades in Samar’s character. It was a treat to the eyes to watch Dimple Kapadia after such a long time, and that too in such a vibrant character. She definitely made Anuradha Kishore come out loud and bold not only through her “Saagar Jaisi Aankhein” but also through her excellent craft of acting skills. The real star of the show for Tandav web series is none other than Sunil Grover—this man showed that if you have the skill, you can definitely do the best. Looking at him in Tandav, it is difficult to accept that he is the same soul who actually made us laugh out loud, sometimes as a hilarious doctor in Kapil Sharma’s show and sometimes as a duplicate Amitabh Bachchan. Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub did a fantastic job as Shiva with no place for monotony. Kritika Kamra was excellent in her character of Sana. She truly proved that Dr. Nidhi Verma of Kuch Toh Log Kahenge can actually pull off such a multi-dimensional character in the best possible way.

Music

Under the supervision of Julius Packiam, the background score or theme music of Tandav actually set the stage on fire. The flavour of thrill and mystery persisted throughout the series with the aid of music.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

With Karol Stadnik as the DOP, the work of camera clearly nailed it. Important cinematographic moments were captured in the best possible way with enigmatic angles of shot. Steven H. Bernard has also worked well as the editor of Tandav web series watch online.

Direction

Ali Abbas Zafar did a fantastic work as the director of Tandav. His directorial approach to Tandav gave a poignant angle to the series. Characterisation was done in very good way, with optimum attention to the details. A good level of research work reflected throughout the series. With excellent script, magnificent performance and substantial music, Tandav is series that deserves to be highly recommended.
