Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari Review – A wedding detective is interesting, but then it just falls apart

Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari movie 2021 on Zee5 has a good concept to begin with. Suraj is a 28-year-old lad craving to find his perfect bride—a bride that matches up to the concept of beauty and composure that India is still in demand for. But his journey doesn’t count to be very smooth. Madhu Mangal Rane is a wedding detective. Mangal basically saves women from marrying the wrong guy by not only getting a background check done for the guys, but also go for an extra mile of investigation in order to get to the real self of the men. Then it is seen that Suraj starts dating Tulsi, who is the younger sister of Mangal. Initially it appears that Suraj does all of this to take revenge on Mangal, who is responsibly scuppering his dream of marrying the “perfect girl”. But as the story takes its own place, same old family drama with tits and bits of chucklesome comedy is served in a bland platter of unassorted veggies. The story goes unflavoured with an even poorer execution.

Script

The script of Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari movie Zee5 had a poorly crafted anachronic script. Setting the film in the era of 90s, which is considered to be at least the silver, if not golden period of the entertainment industry, is the biggest mistake committed by the makers. Equal blunder is made by the script writers in terms of setting the dialogue and diction, which was a complete mismatch to the era that was required to be portrayed.

Acting

After laughing our heart out in Good News, it is absolutely clear that Diljit Dosanjh underplayed Suraj in Suraj pe Mangal Bhari. He was not at all hilarious, and even in the intense corners of the film, Diljit’s approach remained quite casual. Manoj Bajpayee, the kind of an actor he is starting from Veer Zaara to Aarakshan and then to The Family Man, probably no character on earth now exists as mould to which he can’t fit in. He was actually “Bhari” on Diljit in terms of his performance. Fatima was fair in her approach to Tulsi. But she too was visibly underutilised.

Music

Under the supervision of Kingshuk Chakravarty, the music and background scores of Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari surprisingly came out to be no less than a potential musical failure. Songs were tough to listen to and fast forwarding was the only choice left for the viewers during the musical sequences.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

With Anshuman Mahaley as the DOP, cinematography came out to be quite well with vibrant colours and shades of light aptured in the correct measure. Rameshwar S. Bhagat has also worked well as the on-line editor of Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari movie watch online.

Direction

Abhishek Sharma had a boring plot to present. The trailer itself had summed up the overall story of the movie. The movie was not a surprise. But the underutilisation of the casting members and the casual blandness in the script was the surprise. And definitely, it was not a pleasant one.
