The Missing Stone Review – A story that would hold you breathless

The Missing Stone on MX Player 2020 is a series will hold the breath of its viewers till they complete it. The story involves a lovely couple—Sahir and Dhwani. Post the restrictions during the lockdown period, Sahir has to go on a business trip. Dhwani also insists to accompany him. Sahir happily agrees, because Dhwani’s birthday is also round the corner and hence it can be planned in the business trip. Dwani also invites her sister Payal to join them in the resort, but Payal doesn’t reach there even after long hours of wait. Although Sahir tries to comfort his better half, something about Payal’s last call worries Dhwani.

Dhwani tries to get into the roots of the problem. She knows that a grave crime has been committed and by default every crime will have its criminal. When she tries to go into the depths of the problem, she discovered some shocking secrets about Payal, that leaves her completely perplexed. Dhwani and Sahir decides to meet Ryan, Payal’s boyfriend. The trio meets in the resort. But instead of finding answer to the question about where Payal really is, things become all the more intricate with different versions of narratives.

The Missing Stone MX Player is a simple thriller that doesn’t involve a lot of bloodshed, but contains modicum of suspense to a very high degree.

Scrip

The script undoubtedly has a lot of punch and good substance to complement the well-designed and perfectly characterised story of the series. The dialect, although monotonous at places, but absolutely substantiating, coupled very well with the backdrop of the series.

Action

Bidita Bag is undoubtedly the star of the show. She slips with ease into the skin of the character and slowly sculpts it out in the best possible way. Barun Sobti does an extremely good job in playing the perfect partner and support system of the character of Dhwani. He is not a supporting cast, neither is he the centre of attraction. There is a blurry line between the two that Barun maintains with exquisite ease. Vitthal Kale and Pallavi Patil’s performances are worthy of appreciation.

Music

Music of The Missing Stone was too good. Brince Bora and Ranjan Patnaik did an excellent work as far as the music of the series was concerned.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

The cinematography of The Missing Stone was absolutely bewitching. The work of camera was excellent with very good angles of shot. Vikramkumar Amladi and Jitendra Borhade as the directors of photography of The Missing Stone did a great job.  Abhijit Deshpande and Satyajeet Kelkar also did a good work as the editors of The Missing Stone.

Direction

Vishal Furia and Alok Naik invested a lot of hard work in the work of direction of The Missing Stone. The first challenge on their behalf was to maintain the ambience of suspense throughout the screenplay. Their attention to minute details made The Missing Stone reach a different level. A 5-episode thriller built with so much of compactness—definitely deserves a huge round of applauds.
