Criminal Justice Behind Closed Doors Review – A good effort on the pedestal of originality
The story of Disney+ Hotstar web series Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors will definitely take us back to the Vikrant Massey and Jackie Shroff web series Criminal Justice on the same platform in the year of 2019. From the perspective of a good sequel, Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors holds an average score. But in terms of originality, the sequel outscores its prequel and makes a grave mark in the hearts of many.
The second season of Criminal Justice takes its viewers deeper into the labyrinth of a flawed judiciary system upon which our mother India thrives. The loop holes and dark corners of the system enable evidence manipulation, corruption and all leading to delay and eventual denial in justice. While Madhav Mishra was a parallel cast in season 1, Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors bring him at the centre table.
Bikram Chandra is a noble lawyer. He gives long, inspiring, heart-rending speeches in the courtroom for the downtrodden section of the society and also fights for them. He is shown to have a perfectly happy family—with a beautiful wife Anu and a 12-year-old daughter. But then, fate takes its own turns. Bikram is shown to get stabbed, and right after that Anu is seen to be roaming in the streets, draped in a blood-stained night gown.

Criminal Justice season 2 Trailer
Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors seemed to be an old wine in a new bottle. But the old wine this time had a lot of additional flavours, that actually made a good attempt in stimulating the taste buds of the viewers hungry for entertainment.
Script
The script of Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors shows a lot of spark throughout each and every episode of the series. The dialogues are laden with sharpness with most of Mishra’s words marked with a lot of humour, wit and intensity at the same time. With apt dialect and diction, the script doesn’t stand out to be out of place as far as the context and subject of the series is concerned.
Acting
Jisshu Sengupta was superb in his short screen presence. His delivery of speech and maintaining the difference between a social activist and a lawyer is worthy of appreciation. Kirti Kulhari is placid, yet not monotonous. Her expressions speak a lot more than her words. Anupriya Goenka is rapid in receptivity and gets absorbed in her character to the required extent. Pankaj Tripathi, the star of the show is outstanding with his delivery, body language, expressions and of course, his famous “neck movements”.The casting members of Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors nailed the show with absolute perfection and excellent team work.
Music
Background scores have been really engaging and appropriate as far as the plot and moments were concerned. The sound designers have made an intelligent blend of music by not letting the scores surpass the dialogue delivery of the actors, which is a common problem in many web series and movies these days.
Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing
Given a series like Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors, cinematography required a lot of focus and it undoubtedly did get that focus. Angles of the camera could have been no better, perfectly paying justice to the resources that were available. Editing of the series was very well planned and executed, thereby holding the gravity of the series.
Direction
Rohan Sippy did an excellent job as the director of Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors. His research work was adequate enough to spark off a series of this sort, with perfect balance of thrill, plot and emotions. Utilising every resource to most and paying utmost attention to the little details, Criminal Case Season 2 stands out to be one of the most well-made series on Disney+ Hotstar.
