Darbaan Zee5 Review – Some bonds continue to suffer, sometimes time and sometimes situations play the killer.

Darbaan movie 2020 is based on Rabindranath Tagore’s short story—Khokababur Protyabartan, meaning the return of Khokababu (a little boy). In today’s world where employer and employee hardly share any close bond in most of the cases, Darbaan gifts a different world to its viewers. Set in the backdrop of 1970, the story finds its roots in the Jharia village of Dhanbad. Naren Tripathi is a coal mine owner in Jharia, with one of his domestic helps as Raicharan aka Raichu. Naren’s son Anukula aka Anu shares an a very close bond with Raichu.

But fate has its own conditions. The coal mines of India got nationalised in the year of 1971. As a result, the financial condition of Naren Tripathi degraded, so much so, that he had to let go of all employees, domestic helps including Raichu. The emotional connection between Raichu and Anu fell prey to the sword of time’s cruelty.

Years later, Anu returns, re-established and prosperous. Reminiscing his close connection with Raichu, he decides to appoint Raichu once again, so that Raichu’s son Siddhu gets taken care of in a good way. Leaving his wife Bhuri neglected once again, Raicharan joins back happily. And then the tables turn again. Anukul and his wife Charul lose their only son, and the blame unexpectedly falls on Raichu, based on circumstances.

Darbaan movie online is an excellent approach to the much popular story of Rabindranath Tagore, the pride of not only Bengal, but India as well.

Script:

The script of Darbaan movie Zee5 is simply path-breaking, and the dialogue framing is quite powerful. The period of the story is reflected well through the diction of the characters.

Acting:

Sharad Kelkar is as brilliant as always with his performance. It is difficult to find flaws in his work, especially after his iconic deliveries like Ram Leela, Tanhaji and Laxmii. He carries himself in the best possible way and fits in with perfection in the skin of Anu. Rasika Dugal, another powerhouse of talent delivers with impeccable professionalism as Bhuri, despite her short screen presence. Sharib Hashmi, the heart and soul of Darbaan does a wonderful job in maintaining the same continuity in character over the leap.

Music:

Under the supervision of Amartya Rahut, the music and background scores of Darbaan could have been a little more introspective. The flavour of the film could have been seasoned in a better way with more thoughtful compositions.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing:

If there is one aspect in the film which had the scope of betterment, then that one aspect is cinematography. With Amalendu Chaudhary as the DOP, the work of camera could have been a little more placid to the eyes. Important cinematographic moments got missed out due to lack of efficient inspection of camera. Vandita Chakradeo and Jayant Jatharon the other hand worked well as the editors of Darbaan movie watch online.

Direction:

Bipin Nadkarni did a fantastic work as the director of Darbaan. His directorial approach to Darbaan gave a poignant angle to the film. His attention to minute details balanced out the now and then scenarios of Raichu’s life in the best possible way. Just like Tagore’s creation, there is no scope for over-dramatization in Darbaan. Darbaan is chaste and simple, and that’s what Khokababur Protyabartan was all about.
