Mum Bhai Web Series Review – A bland story with no seasoning
The story of Zee5 original production Mum Bhai Zee5 new movie 2020 lacks the minimal punch that is expected from a gangster tale. Bhaskar Shetty, the central character of the film escapes to Mumbai after brutally injuring his teacher. His teacher tried to fondle his mother, yet Bhaskar was the one who had to escape. As a school kid, Bhaskar obviously did not have much money or connection in the city of Mumbai. He met with Rama Anna and under his recommendation, got a job at a restaurant.
Anna promised him that on growing up, he would be joining Anna’s gang. But Bhaskar had bigger dreams. He used his wit and studious trait and got into the Police training. Soon, he became a cop. Bhaskar decided to join the ATS, who were actually cleansing the streets of Mumbai off gangsters and anti-socials. But when he joined ATS, Bhaskar finds that the bad guys outside were getting killed or arrested. But there were quite a few heads inside the department, who were drawing money from both the ends and hence facilitating crime and criminals in a very big way.

Mum Bhai movie Trailer
Mum Bhai had a good crew to go a long way. But it doesn’t make even to the half of it.
Script
The script of Mum Bhai does manage to show some spark in the otherwise monotonous and lengthy episodes of the series. The dialogues are laden with sharpness with most of Bhaskar’s words marked with a lot of intensity. With apt dialect and diction, the script doesn’t stand out to be out of place as far as the context and subject of the series is concerned.
Acting
Angad Bedi was the only heart and soul of the series. Her performance will sometimes make you cry, and sometimes make you feel proud that even a certain degree of goodness exists in today’s world. Sandeepa Dhar also did a very good job with perfect delivery of dialogues. Sameer Dharmadhikari also performed quite well along with Madhurima Roy.
Music
Background scores have been really engaging and appropriate as far as the plot and moments were concerned. The sound designers have made an intelligent blend of music by not letting the scores surpass the dialogue delivery of the actors, which is a common problem in many web series and movies these days.
Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing
Given a series like Mum Bhai, cinematography required a lot of focus and it undoubtedly did not get that focus. Angles of the camera could have been much better; cinematography did not pay justice to the resources that were available. The editing of the series stands to be one of the most important negative points of Mum Bhai. 12 episodes could have been easily shortened to at least 8, or even less. The lack of attention in the editing department not only makes the series needlessly long, but also affects the binding of the series to a noticeable degree.
Direction
Akshay Choubey could have made a great team as far as the Mum Bhai is concerned. The over implementation of emotional moments and scenes have not only hampered the entire presentation of the series but also have made a grave impact on the digression of the series from the main theme. As far as the direction was concerned, a lot of minute approach was needed to lift up Mum Bhai from where it stands now.
