Ludo Movie Review – Ludo is a fair game, where fate is the key to success.

Ludo on Netflix is a beautiful presentation of a common game that almost every Indian soul has played at some point of life, especially during childhood. But in this film, it is shown that how this game, rather the simplest game of Ludo becomes the structure of life for four individuals—the four players of this Ludo of life.

The first player accidentally finds a video clip. The clip contains a sex video of his ex-girlfriend, who is extremely eager for a destination wedding. The second player is a criminal, who leaves the prison after serving his sentence. But when he is set free, he discovers that neither his wife, nor his daughter belong to him now. The next player is an impostor. He has shortly turned into a dhaba owner. He is in immense pain to see his lady love married to some other person. The last player is a boy from a small town. He gets into trouble as he makes off with a nurse from Malayali origin.

Initially, these four players are shown to be devoid of any connection among themselves. But somehow, they get connected to the same powerful gangster of the city. The gangster is found to have killed a builder along with his wife, as well as the lover of the wife. The whirlpool of blood continues to suck in the four players of the film, giving the lesson of ludo to all those who either take life too seriously, or to those who don’t take so at all.

Ludo is a film built wisely on the philosophy of the game.

Script

The script of Ludo complements the plot quite well. In terms of dialects and diction, the script defines the characters with good work of detailing. The script also upheld the justification of the special touch of makeup and costumes used in Ludo. There was punch, there was substance, and most importantly, there was context in the script.

Acting

Abhishek Bachchan is back with his intense performances on screen, especially after the Amazon series Breathe. His craft of acting sculpted out his character with fine edges. Aditya Roy Kapoor with his performance, will take you down the memory lane to his excellent work in Guzaarish. But then, the star of the show, without portraying himself as actually the star, again manages to win hearts with his outstanding performance and dialogue delivery—Rajkumar Rao was truly fantastic in Netflix movie Ludo 2020.

Music

The music of Ludo, although created by Pritam Chakraborty, required some more attention. Music in any film plays a governing role in bringing out the emotions from the viewers as well, while they are watching the film.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

Anurag Basu as the DOP of Ludo did a great job as far as the cinematography of the film is concerned. Ajay Sharma did a good work as the editor of Ludo.

Direction

Anurag Basu’s directorial approach to this film was remarkable. It is difficult to direct a film with a concept that is so simple yet so fundamental. Ludo finds the best touch of detailing and above all, it never makes the viewers tired of watching treachery in the already tough times of a world pandemic.
