Bhanwar Zee5 Web Series Review – Garish and Gaudy Sci-fi fare at the intersection of spooky, delirious and mysterious.

Zee5 web series Bhanwar story talks about Ranvir Makhija and his wife Kanika Makhija, who buys a lavish house for 10 crores from a lady-dealer, Samantha. It appears as if they have fled with 20 crores cash and the police is in search of them. On the other hand, Kanika is shown to be having an extra-marital affair with Rodriguez. The same night, Ranvir calls Samantha for a celebration, who brings her friend Joe as well. Suddenly Joe reveals that her brother wants to head to a party and is insisting her to join him. Out of courtesy, Ranvir invites Joe’s brother to their apartment. And then it is revealed that Joe’s brother is none but Rodriguez. After the guests leave, Ranvir and Kanika make out and gets some surprises that account on the paranormal activities that this house continues to present.

The real flavour of Zee5 originals Bhanwar lies in the confluence of science fiction, paranormal activities as well as mystery. A small windmill adorning the house just as a showpiece first attracts Ranvir and then Kanika to a time travel journey to the future. With spooky voices and unnatural activities, they are somehow conveyed that they will be murdered. After coming out to the present time, they plan how to prevent their death.

Bhanwar is a web series which had possibilities; but it stood out to be a real example of how over-creativity spoils the joy in chastity.

Script

The script of Bhanwar has nothing large to offer. It succeeds in delivering the primary theme of the series. But a good script has indelible contribution in the characterisation of each part. Bhanwar script lacks that to a good extent.

Acting: As far as acting is concerned, Bhanwar on Zee5 online had a good team. While Karanvir and Priya ignited the audience with their powerful chemistry and impeccable delivery of the emotional outbreaks, the other casting members had a very short time on screen. If this could have taken care of, the casting members would have fetched Bhanwar web series a little higher rating.

Music

Arijit Datta designed the music and background scores in a very good way. Music generally retains as well as manifests the true colour of a film or series.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

The cinematography of Bhanwar is simply outstanding, with Raju Gauli as the DOP. Special effects were also quite good. Prashant Singh Rathore’s work as the editor of Bhanwar is worthy of appreciation.

Direction

The real aspect which went wrong with Bhanwar on Zee5 is the merge of genres. Science Fiction and mystery gel very well. But what forms the clove in the pudding is the major addition of paranormal activities. Fear for the spooky events should not have been the driving force here. Astonishment due to the advancement in Science should have been the driving force. Although the concept is quite a unique one, the story falls out—predictable with a screenplay that fails to carry quite a good substance in it. There was a sheer lack of thrill in this web series with Karanvir Bohra as the director.
