Bebaakee Review – Yet another sweet story of love triangle

The story of Zee5+ ALT Balaji web series Bebaakee is not a story having any sort of unique touch or turning point. It is a pretty normal Ekta Kapoor love story where love begins with oppositions and turmoil. Initially the plot takes us to the reverie of the 2011 released epic daily soap Bade Achhe Lagte Hain,

Bebaakee has something quite different to offer, yet not so different. Sufiyaan is a rich businessman. He is the CEO of the big media company: United India. He wants to announce a big news but somehow loses his phone. Kaiynaat, an employee working in another media company, somehow gets his phone and hence leaks the news through her company. Sufiyaan gets furious; not only his work has been compromised, his ego has been hurt. So, he decides to buy the company in which Kaiynaat works in as a journalist. Post acquiring, he confronts Kaiynaat and fires her.

But fate has its own plans. Sufiyaan and Kaiynaat continues to bump into each other, through unexpected turn of events. And slowly, just like an Ekta Kapoor show, Sufiyaan falls in love with Kaiynaat. But can love sustain in peace where Ekta Kapoor is there? Well, “NO” is the answer to this rhetorical question. Imtiyaaz, Sufiyaan’s friend cum brother, also starts liking Kaiynaat. Bebakee thus takes its own pace, to lead you to the final destination of Kaiynaat’s journey of love.

Bebaakee AltBalaji is a not an exceptional project as far as the plot is concerned. But it has a lot of freshness with a good-to-the-eye touch.

Script: The script of Bebaakee is obviously not very exceptional. There is a touch of a pleasant flavour resonating throughout the script. But noticing the stubborn character of Sufiyaan, the new common in the Ekta Kapoor projects, the dialogues for Sufiyaan could be a little sharper and more different from the other similar characters.

Acting

Kushal Tandon has delivered a good performance. The stubbornness of the character, the strictness at work—everything was brought out quite well through his acting skills. Shivjyoti Rajput also did an amazing job. While Tandon’s work is more on the reactive side, Shivjyoti played the proactive part. Mostly in such cases, actresses talk a lot but here, besides talking, Shivjyoti also did not lose her focus from the expressions part. Karan Jotwani carried himself very well as Imtiyaz. His work of eye demands appreciation. Nasirr Khan and Suchitra Pillai are amazing as always in their supporting characters.

Music

Gaurav Dagaonkar and Udbhav Ojha did quite a good job in designing the music as well as the background scores of Bebaakee. Their melody actually helped this series become somewhat differently better to watch.

Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing

Anil Katke did an excellent job as the DOP of Bebaakee. He utilised every frame and made it look exotic. Good cinematography is one of the reasons for which Bebaakee can be a treat to the eyes for romantic drama lovers. Manas Majumdar, Vikas Sharma and Vishal Sharma did a great job as the editing team of Bebaakee. Visuals were at their best.

Direction

Muzammil Desai minimised suspicion and maximised predictability. His directorial approach towards Bebaakee episodes was not minute enough. Characterisation was not made well and as a result a lot of areas remained sketchy. The brevity of the episode duration could have been utilised in a good way. However, with exotic cinematography, bewitching music and good acting, Bebaakee manages to score well.
